What do I do if I cannot view the training materials properly (too big for screen or missing elements)?

If, for example, you can't view all the text on a page and a horizontal scroll bar appears, then check the display and browser settings on your computer. Follow the steps below or contact your agency's Ethics Help Desk.

Are your display settings set to at least 800x600?

  1. Click on Start in your Windows menu bar
  2. Select Settings from the menu; then select Control Panel; window displays
  3. Double click Display
  4. Click on the Settings tab
  5. Set your screen size to 800x600 or higher if it is on another setting
  6. Click OK

Is your computer system font size set to Normal?

  1. Click on Start in your Windows menu bar
  2. Select Settings from the menu; then select Control Panel; window displays
  3. Double click Display
  4. Click on the Settings tab
  5. Click on Advanced
  6. Select "Normal Size" if it is not displayed
  7. Click OK twice

Is your browser text size set to Medium?

  1. Open a browser (e.g., Internet Explorer)
  2. On the toolbar, click on View menu option
  3. Select Text Size Medium

How do I navigate through the training program?

Once you have selected the appropriate training course, click on “Take Course” button to begin.

The next screen you see is the Table of Contents. The course is broken down into sections. Click on "Introduction" to begin. To page through the course, click the forward and back buttons (at bottom of each screen) as needed.

When you are done with a section of the course, the Table of Contents will indicate with a check mark, next to the appropriate section title, that you have completed that element of the training. To proceed to the next section of the training, click on its title in the Table of Contents.

Should you decide to leave the Ethics Training and Compliance Center before completing the course, it will remember and "bookmark" where you left off should you wish to finish the training at a later time.

If you want to view a list of the Facts or FAQ’s, select "References" located at the top of the course window to display links to any of the supplementary materials.

How do I check my progress?

Exit the course and return to the main ETCC window. Click on the button, labeled "My Records".

Click on the "Development Record" link to display the status of your courses. This will allow you to track your progress.

What should I do if the ETCC site is loading slowly?

  1. Close and re-open your browser and then try accessing the ETCC again.
  2. Confirm if other Internet/Intranet sites (i.e., Yahoo.com, CNN.com) load slowly too. If you have confirmed that other sites are loading slowly then contact your agency ' s Helpdesk to check to see if, for example, your Intranet is down. Otherwise proceed to step 3.
  3. If on modem, disconnect and reconnect. If this doesn ' t fix the problem then proceed to step 4.
  4. Reboot your computer. If this doesn ' t fix the problem then proceed to step 5.
  5. Contact your agency ' s Helpdesk.
